Landscape Photography
Tuesdays, May 17, 6-8:30 PM and May 24, 6-7:30 PM
Learn how to capture the special moments in the garden
when it’s at its peak, and how to make special moments of the garden when
it’s not! Led by accomplished landscape photographer and author David
Winger, this two-session workshop will explore digital terminology,
composition, lighting, and post-photograph processing for optimal
landscape photographs. You’ll get the opportunity to apply your knowledge
immediately by taking photos in The Gardens with guidance from the
instructor, followed by a review of your photographs. Please bring a
camera.
Class will be held at The Inn at Hudson Gardens.

Ask Anything About Honeybees
Wednesday May 18, 6-8 PM
This question and discussion session is designed to answer all of the questions
you have about beekeeping that you’ve never had the chance to ask! Resident Bee
Guardian Bob Shiflet will lead this participant-led discussion and will be
available to provide advice, troubleshoot problems, and make suggestions.
Class will be held at The Inn at Hudson Gardens.
Registration: $15/member, $20/nonmember. Free for those who have attended at
least three previous beekeeping classes at Hudson Gardens in 2011. Call the

Container Planting Workshop
Tired of the same old annual plantings? Discover new ways to take your container
gardens to the next level by joining Annie Huston, co-founder of Columbine
Design, for this hands-on experience creating gorgeous flower combinations that
will thrive all summer long. Please bring a garden pot (18” in diameter or
smaller), soil, and gardening gloves – we’ll provide the plants (for both sun
and shade), accessories, and expertise. You’ll leave this workshop with a
beautiful container garden and a new perspective on planting annuals!
Class will be held at The Hudson Residence, a one-story home located on the
northwest corner of the property. Meet the instructor in front of the Gift Shop
10 minutes prior to class start time.

Xeriscape 101
Tuesday, June 28, 6 – 8:30 PM
Learn how to combine traditional landscaping techniques with the latest in
conservation methods to achieve an eye-appealing and functional yard or garden.
While minimizing water-use and maintenance, xeriscape landscaping maximizes the
beauty and year-long appeal of any garden space. This workshop, led by long-time
xeriscape author and photographer David Winger, covers the history and seven
principles of xeriscape, followed by an interactive walk through The Hudson
Gardens to observe and identify plants with low-to moderate water-requirements.
